Murray Norton gets geared up for charity cycle ride
by Jeff Hathaway

Former BBC Jersey presenter, now restaurateur, charity fund raiser and St. Aubin resident Murray Norton, has announced his next two wheeled challenge to raise funds for no less than 10 charities!

Having cycled coast to coast across Mexico twice (and as part of those teams, raised a staggering £360,000 for Jersey Hospice!), he's now come up with another idea that would have most of us think he is crazy: to attempt to cycle solo, TEN times round Jersey in just five consecutive days, to raise £10,000 each for another ten local charities - that's £100,000 in total.

Murray's 10CC Challenge will take place between 6th and 10th October and will see him covering nearly 500 miles. Murray told La Baguette that he already has a great deal of support for the challenge and has Jersey's Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant General Andrew Ridgway as patron to the charity.

The challenge is now underway with just 10 months to raise the money, ending with a grand charity ball in late June 2011. Any funds raised in excess of the £100K target will be divided between the Jersey Christmas Appeal and ACET Jersey.
