FIVE St. Brelade Officers were awarded Long Service Medals by His Excellency The Lieutenant Governor, Sir John McColl and Deputy Bailiff Timothy Le Cocq at a special ceremony held at Government House on 15th September.
The awards were presented to the St. Brelade officers by His Excellency on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen.
The five, Centeniers' Michel Bourgeard, Jeff Hathaway, George May and Susan Fox, and Vingtenier Raoul Gear each received a medal inscribed with their name.
The five officers have between them over 100 years of honorary service to the Parish of St. Brelade each having served between 18 and 26 years. Constable Pallett said:
"It was a proud moment for me to see the officers justly rewarded for their long and loyal service not just to the Parish but to the Island and the community as a whole. I can only echo the Deputy Bailiffs remarks when he said that our honorary system is the envy of the world and those that give their time to it the backbone of our island."
