‘Over-zealous’ parking enforcement angers Les Quennevais shoppers.

This year the life of Saint Aubin was celebrated in September rather than on March 1st. The date clashes with the festival of St David, which takes precedence, so with the permission of the church it was decided to move the celebrations closer to the consecration of Saint Aubin on the Hill anniversary. With the help of co-ordinator Pat Robson, the market on 29th September took on a red, white and blue theme in honour of St Aubin’s French connections and there were special activities for children with a piratical theme. A timely reminder of two things; firstly St Aubin is noted for having come to the aid of those captured by by pirates and secondly, the harbour was home port for a number of privateers during the Napoleonic Wars.
On Sunday 30th September there was a Eucharist in the church which was specially decorated. This was followed by a Vin d’Honneur at the Parish Hall during which Marie Louise Backhurst gave a presentation on the life of St Aubin and the development of the village.
