The States and Honorary Police are increasingly called to disturbances at various parish ‘hot-spots’ by concerned residents.
They report that incidences are most usually caused by just a handful of troublemakers, and of major concern is the age group, notably 11-15 year olds. This causes further concern as these disturbances are often late evening and sometimes well past midnight. We believe parents should ask: ‘Where is my child tonight?’
Centenier and St. Brelade Chef de Police, Geoff Cornwall says: “Our Honorary Officers have been working closely with our Community Officer, Nick Cunningham and his colleagues for some time to identify those responsible, and with some success. However, it remains that there are still too many instances of anti-social behaviour, and I would agree with Nick that without parental support and better home discipline it will continue to be a difficult issue. I find it incredible that parents do not seem to connect their child with these incidents despite not knowing where they have been or who they have been with - nor apparently do they seem to care”
