Day Care facilities and clubs
Opportunities to meet old friends or make new ones!
by Judith Davy & Jeff Hathaway

Communicare have been running a day care for senior citizens for over 25 years. This gives the elderly the opportunity to meet old friends or make new ones in a friendly, caring, homely atmosphere.
A member of Family Nursing assesses and supervises members, and the rest of the work is done by over 30 volunteers.
The Day Centre is run on a Wednesday. If necessary, members are transported to the Centre by one of the voluntary drivers in the Communicare mini-bus.
Teas and coffees are served to the members on arrival. They can then avail themselves of the Day Care services or simply catch up with the gossip.
A two course lunch is provided at midday, served by the volunteers.
Afternoon entertainment is organised by the Day Care committee, who provide a stimulating and varied programme throughout the year.
Tea and home-made cakes are provided by the volunteers to end the day.
This fantastic facility can only be run due to the commitment and enthusiasm of the fantastic volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers to help serve teas, coffees and lunches, arrange activities, make sandwiches or cakes, or perhaps drive the mini-bus occasionally.
If you would like to help in any small way, and are free on a Wednesday, between 10am and 3.30am, please contact Communicare Centre on 744258
More facilities in St Aubin, and more members needed
The St. Brelade Senior Citizens Club meets on 3rd Wednesday of each month at 2.30pm the Parish Hall in St. Aubin for an afternoon of chat, activity’ talks. outings and of course, tea and cake.
Club President, Roselle Le Louarn, is looking not only for new members, but for a couple of volunteer drivers who can assist some senior citizens who find it difficult to travel to St. Aubin.
There is no formal membership, and Roselle assures everyone a warm and friendly welcome ..... especially gentlemen!
If you would like further information, please call Roselle on 747399
