Not a lot people know that!
St. Brelade Football and Social Club is over 50 years old

by David Maine

St Brelade’s Sports and Social Club is located on La Route des Quennevais, and has been in existence for over 50 years.
Initially it ran a couple of senior football and snooker teams, but the number of football teams has grown to include a junior section. For many years the club tried unsuccessfully to find suitable land for sporting and social facilities for its members.
In the late nineties, thanks to a lot of hard work by the then club committee and the parish we were offered land at Lesquendez with sufficient space to provide a football pitch and clubhouse.
Once the pitch had been laid work started on the clubhouse which was opened in November 2000.
How things have changed in the eight years. On the sporting side we have achieved the high standards set by the Football Association and have been delegated as an FA Standard Chartered Club. We now run 3 senior, 4 junior, a ladies, and a girls football team together with soccer mini's for our younger members. We also organise a team to play in the inter Parish Trinity Shield Competition and have recently formed a cricket team.
On the social side, activities include snooker, pool, darts, table football and games machines. A large screen television is also provided to watch those all important sporting events. We have a licensed bar and recently started to serve meals on Friday evenings and hot snacks over the rest of the weekend.
Finally, we are always looking for help particularly with our football section. If you feel you would like to become involved in the club or require any further information please call Dave Maine on 498765 or Keith Taylor 0797734946.
