Maison St. Brelade resident, Mrs Doris Vibert celebrates her centenary
by Jeff Hathaway

ALL the residents at Maison St Brelade enjoyed the day of celebration to mark Doris Vibert's 100th birthday. A visit from the Lieutenant-Governor Andrew Ridgway and a telegram from Her Majesty The Queen made Mrs Vibert feel honoured that so much attention was given to her special day.

Mrs Vibert nee Le Maistre was born on 23rd May 1911. The youngest of four children she was educated at Les Landes Primary School and Jersey College for Girls. When she was 21 she married Hedley Charles Vibert and began her new life as a farmer’s wife at La Retraite in St Ouen. They had four sons, Geoff, Ron, Michael and John. Her husband passed away in 1980, but Mrs Vibert kept busy delivering meals for the Meals on Wheels service and was a keen member of the St Ouen's Senior Citizens’ Club.

Mrs Vibert has 8 grand children and 15 great grand children and was delighted to celebrate her 100th birthday with all her family at two parties at Maison St Brelade. She said that she felt so happy to have her health and celebrate her 100th birthday with all her family and the friends that she has made in her six years at Maison St Brelade.

The La Baguette team would also like to extend their congratulations to Doris!
