Shall We Dance’ .....
Ladies of the La Moye WI at it again with a full programme of events!
by Maureen Bougeard

This spring members enjoyed the talk by Simon Thomas and Nigel Gates and were particularly interested in the 'Dame' costumes they had brought with them. When the costumes were passed around the meeting, there was surprise at the detail and weight of them. Members also had the opportunity to have a 'close up' view of the beautiful head-dresses which were to be used in the forthcoming production of 'The King And I'.

Then in May, members discussed two Resolutions to be put before the National Annual General Meeting after which members were divided into groups to answer a devious quiz prepared by Jane Campbell. The meeting room went very quiet, apart from quiet mumbling - you could almost hear brains ticking!

And last month Mr Brian Curtis MBE spoke to members about the workings of the Community Banking Service (Community Savings Limited). This service helps members of the community who are, for whatever reason, unable to use the services of High Street Banks. Members were particularly interested to learn that an initiative has been launched to provide services in all the Parishes.

In addition to meetings and our own group activities, members have taken part in the Swimarathon, attended the Levee at Government House and a number of members took part in the Federation baking competition where Marguerite Calderbank was joint winner of the cup for highest marks on the day.
