Outdoor learning get thumbs up from pupils of La Moye
by Caroline Hathaway

LA Moye Primary School uses the outdoor learning environment as much as possible to make learning irresistible for its pupils says Marion Baker of La Moye School.

The school has recently acquired a school mini-bus which was jointly purchased by the school, the PTA and the Variety Club and use it a lot to get out and about. Year 5 pupils were fortunate enough to spend a couple of days at St. Aubin's Fort recently. Sailing in dinghys was one activity that started with putting wet suits and life-jackets on. Learning to roll the sails and raise them, attaching ropes and steering was such tremendous fun. Pupil Olivia Quenault praised her friend Shannon who as well as being 'just the passenger' was also 'the best look-out ever!'.

Collecting shells for artwork inspired by a visit to the Peter Knight art gallery, a GPS activity and poetry writing kept them busy. The 'fantastic' beach sculpture of a huge Loch Ness Monster by Rebecca Quigley's group of friends was inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.

All this outdoor activity in the fresh air gave the students great appetites and no doubt some unforgettable memories!
