JERSEYMAN and former La Moye and Les Quennevais student, Matt Banahan, is a step closer to playing in the Rugby Union World Cup down-under in New Zealand later on this year.
The Bath centre has been named in England's provisional 45 man training squad and will be looking for a team place.
Matt, who at 6' 7" and 18 stone is sometimes described as the 'Jersey Juggernaut' had made several appearances for England over the last 12 months, including the Grand Slam match against Scotland in the Six Nations earlier this year.
He fired an early warning at the team's southern hemisphere rivals saying that England can defy their status as underdogs and win!
