Meals on Wheels Service need more help
by La Baguette Reporter

MEALS on Wheels have been delivering meals on 4 days a week for nearly 50 years as many of parishioners may know, either as helpers, or recipients of meals. "Helpers retire for various reasons and we are always in need of more." says Norma Asplet, Chairman of the Meals on Wheels Service.

"The service operates twelve routes daily from Tuesday to Friday; two from St Saviours Hospital and ten from Overdale Hospital. Delivering meals involves approximately 1½ hours over the middle of the day from 11.15am, drivers usually take a friend and work one day a fortnight on a designated route.

For some of our recipients the mid day caller can be the only person they speak to on that day, so a few moments spent chatting are very welcome. Alternatively, we would welcome assistance with dishing up meals between 9am and 11am in our designated kitchen at Overdale Hospital. We are a service charity and would appreciate your help in publicising our need for additional helpers." Norma says.
