New Association proposed
“Maintaining the special atmosphere important.” says Murray Norton
by Jeff Hathaway

Several licensed traders in St. Aubin have expressed a wish to explore the formation of a new association, Murray Norton of ‘Murrays’ told La Baguette. “The idea would be a wonderful opportunity to bring together the various licensed traders in the village. The many restaurants and bars in St.Aubin are the majority of the traders and employers in the village and it would make sense for us to get together both socially and actively, to maintain the high standards of service and quality that has made the village the number one destination in Jersey.” Murray said. He continued: “We appreciate that this can mean great numbers of people in St Aubin - particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings and by forming an association between the individual establishments, we can discuss issues, such as parking, policing and staffing and further improve on the excellent communication we currently enjoy with the States, Honorary Police and Parish officials. Maintaining the special atmosphere that the restaurants and bars have created in the village is important to us all. Many will remember only six years ago, when many shops and restaurant premises were closed up. This is a time to collectively build on our success. Over the coming months it is hoped to have an initial discussion amongst licensed traders to progress what is at the moment just an outline proposal - but one that is gaining a lot of interest. There is an excellent and very vibrant St Aubin Residents Association, and by working with them we can ensure that we are all pulling in the same direction to enhance what is certainly the jewel in the crown of Jersey”.
