Welcome to St. Brelade newsletter - offline and now online!
As one of the Islands largest parishes, compiling, printing and distributing a St. Brelade Newsletter was never going to be an easy task.
In May of this year Constable Mike Jackson, Deputy Sarah Ferguson, and Vingtenier Jeff Hathaway, a marketing consultant, met to discuss how the Parish might go about it. Out of this initial meeting was formed a small committee of volunteers to make the first moves.
One of the first considerations was the name. When ‘La Baguette’ was proposed by the daugher of one of the volunteers, it was grasped immediately. It seemed to sum up the intentions of the newsletter perfectly - something you could stuff almost anything into, substantial, and generally liked by everyone - and taking into consideration our twinning with Granville, very nicely appropriate all round!
The newsletter aims to publish general interest articles, stories and news items from around the Parish, some serious, some lighthearted, and provide information like branchage dates, doctor’s surgeries, and general contact details for parish matters.
The newsletter committee do hope you like and appreciate the work that has gone into it. We would welcome your comments, and also letters for publication or articles for future editions that you feel will be of interest to our community - and your advertising support.
Although the first edition is just four pages it is hoped to increase this to eight for future editions. To do this, the support of local business is vital. We also intend to introduce of a low cost classified section in which anyone can advertise items for sale, services, or place notices.
