Les Quennevais Sharks
Ever hungry for success; and looking for a sponsor
by John Gready

Les Quennevais Rugby Football Club was formed in 1980 from a highly successful team from Les Quennevais School.

Over the years, the club has won several titles, including the Hampshire Bowl in 2003, which undoubtedly represents the crowning glory of the club’s achievements, as the previous name on the trophy is that of Guernsey Rugby Club. The club now calls itself Les Quennevais Sharks.

In 2008/09 the Sharks will be competing in the J Promail JRA league, a 7 team competition with 5 sides from Jersey and 2 from Guernsey. At the end of the season the top 4 league sides play-off for the Sugden Cup, whilst the remaining 3 challenge for the MacMillan Trophy. There is also the Presidents Cup which is a seperate knock-out competition run during the season. This season the Sharks will also be travelling to Granville, our twin-town in Normandy, for a game against RC Granville.

The Sharks offer a great social side to their activities too with several member get-togethers throughout the year. This includes the annual ‘Over & Unders’ game, which gives older members and retired players a chance to show the youngsters how the sport is supposed to be played, the Christmas Party, trips to Sark and more.

The Sharks are looking for a sponsor to help pay for pitch fees and to fund travel to fulfill its league fixtures in Guernsey and would be pleased to hear from any interested party.

Whether you are interested in becoming a member, a sponsor, or indeed player, the Sharks would be delighted to hear from you. They can be contacted through Alex Walker on 07797 824630, or by email at
