The Jeux Intervilles,Grainville School 19th & 20th July, and Battle of Flowers dinner.
by Julian Bernstein, Chair

The Jeux Intervilles took place at Grainville School on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July.

St. Brelade led the procession from St. Saviours Parish Hall up to the Sports field marching just behind the Caledonian Pipers with the Parish Flag being paraded by Richard Bernstein.

The competition took the form of an "It’s a Knock Out" event which was not as much fun as the previous occasion in France! The cup was eventually won by St. Ouen and their Twins from Coutances.

The dinner on the 19th at the R.J.A&H.S. was a great fun evening. A group of 25 from St. Brelade and Granville attended along with the French athletes!

A huge vote of thanks must go to the Connétable, who acted as transport officer and general dogs’ body for the weekend, and also to Denise and Rodney Waller who hosted the entire team of French athletes. The combined Jersey and French athletes are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm and general sporting spirit.

We were delighted to welcome Mlle Granville, Magali, for the Battle of Flowers. She made friends with the Battle of Flowers Association members and walked the entire route both on Thursday and on the Moonlight Parade on Friday alongside Miss St. Brelade, Aimee Mezec.

Along with her Chaperones Monique and Henri Lemoine, Magali joined Aimee Mezec and her family as guest of the Association for an informal dinner on the Thursday evening at the Royal Channel Island Yacht Club. More than 40 members joined our guests for a convivial and multi lingual evening.

The next event for the Association is a Dinner on Saturday 29th November at the Parish Hall. The Dinner, which includes wine, will be followed by a Bumper Bottle Raffle. Members and their guests are urged to make a note of the date!

If you are interested in joining the Association please contact the Membership Secretary, Sean Power on 744454, or the Chairman, Julian Bernstein on 746353. VIVE LE JUMELLAGE!
