2008 St. Brelade Battle float dedicated to the ‘magic’ Maggie & Mike Vincent

After dealing with rotting flowers, changes to colour schemes, trimming hundreds, if not thousands, of asters and a few problems with attaching the dove, we managed to get the St Brelade’s Battle of Flowers Association Float down to Victoria Avenue.
The sun was shining and we all enjoyed the day and night parades. We feel we did the Parish proud; no prizes but the results were very close.
The float was dedicated to Maggie and Mick Vincent and as both having been involved in the design, we were sure they were smiling too.
As usual there are many thanks to be given. Thank you to the Portelet and L’Horizon Hotels for the sandwiches, Mailmate for help with printing and Lucas Brothers, Matisse, Freedom, Steve Torrance and Jane Young for raffle prizes.
Thank you, all the building and flowering team, we did well! Thank you to the Honorary Police for your escorting skills. Your time is much appreciated.
A huge thank you also to the generosity of those Parishoners who made this all possible.
We are already preparing for the Christmas Parade and will definitely be entering a float next year. There is talk of a Junior Float. Our team is getting bigger and we have lots of keen youngsters.
