Thank you M&S
Thank you Marks & Spencer
La Baguette is delighted to have received the support of a major brand name.
St. Brelade’s Red Houses and Les Quennevais Precinct is the largest shopping areas in Jersey outside St. Helier. Not only is there a wide choice of stores, but some of the biggest names in Jersey retailing here.
Just 3 years ago Marks & Spencer took over the former House of Jerome and introduced M&S clothing into the Parish. At the same time it also established a small food hall which has proved to be increasingly popular.
M&S have made a special committment to our community newsletter which goes a long way to ensure its financial viability for at least the next year. So when invited to meet the store manager, we took opportunity to ask him a few questions:
What’s your name and job title?
My name is Kevin Griffin, I’m 29, and I’m store manager of your M&S at Red Houses
Where you are from?
I’m originally from the northeast of England but I have been living and working in Bermuda for the last nine months. I love island life, but wanted to be closer to my roots, so Jersey is great.
What does your job involve?
It’s my job to ensure all my customers have a first class shopping experience when they come to us, and that they enjoy the high service levels which are expected from any M&S store.
What’s new at the store?
There are plenty of new things happening: the first floor has been undergoing a make over, and we are introducing fantastic lingerie and menswear departments. In ladieswear there will be a greater range, and we will be seeing a wider range of foods too.
Have you any exciting plans for the store?
There are loads! We want to make it the best shopping experience that we possibly can, and that means that we always have lots of great projects. M&S is also very environmentally aware, and we are trying to reduce our carbon footprint. We are doing many things to make ourselves greener and, although most of it is behind the scenes, our customers will see some changes.
